Brief description of workshop:
In this workshop, you will learn to make a small decorative bud vase (about the size of a toilet roll holder) in mid-fire porcelain (either white or black).
We will be hand building the form, and adding decorative clay details made by rolling, tearing, or pressing small pieces of clay and attaching these to the vase form.
Requirements: Could participants please bring:
- Their own water bottle
- A needle tool or small knife (see picture below for examples)
- A wooden rolling pin
- Any clay tools you like using
- One or two small objects you like the texture of (e.g. a shell, a doily
- A small bucket or container (a washed yoghurt or ice-cream container works well)
- A small artist’s sponge
- A paintbrush
- A plastic tablecloth (we are working in a shared space so need to keep our work surfaces as clean as possible).
Supplied:
I will supply the clay, toilet rolls and newspaper. I will take the works home to bisque fire, for collection from the TAG gallery the following week.
If you wish to have your work glazed in a clear glaze, please bring $10 cash on the day.
I will also have some spare tools just in case.
I will supply tea/coffee and biscuits for morning tea.
